Owner says it has 1-3/4 HP motor, something like 19x10-1/4" throat/resaw height and is in great condition.

Was going to buy a new Grizzly G0513X2B but if this is a better deal I will go for it.

Would have to drive a few hours to get it. Waiting for him to call back with model number.

Would appreciate advice on price.

Thanks

Eli, I have the Grizzly 513x2 , no brake, and like it a lot. I had a shot at an 18 inch Jet and did some searching. IIRC, the early model had a bad review because it was tough to adjust the bearings under the table. The later models were reviewed more positively. Once you get the model number, do some searching. While Jet makes a great machine, one advantage to the Grizzly is that you would get a warranty with it.

I believe this is the 708750 model.....I just talked the guy down to $600. I am thinking I will take the chance.

What should I be looking out for when i get there?

Eli,

The saw has mixed reviews on Amazon. Some of their comments might give you an idea of what to look for when checking out the machine.

Edit... the reviews are for the -18x, not the jwbs-18, but they might be simiar enough.

Another edit... a review (http://www.woodcentral.com/bparticles/JWBS-18.shtml)

I think $600 is probably ok, but I think the lower resaw height of this saw is rather restrictive compared to the 17" Grizzly.

I will gloat and say that I picked up a 16" Walker-Turner with a 2hp motor for $500 this weekend. It has a 12" resaw height :) Even the doors are cast iron.
