Well as the earlier threadhttp://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=118394 went I kept the stool as is...

Here is the finished "walking" stool. Still have a couple more coats of finish to apply.
Quite pleased with it and almost want to keep it rather than sell. Maybe I'll be lucky and no one will buy it. ;)
Thanks again for helping make a negative into a positive.

Brian, the stool looks great! The joinery is excellent and I really like the knot hole. Along with the legs this piece truly has some personality. I'd want to keep it too.

Ya didn't tell us there was a hole in the middle of the thing!!! That just ruins the whole walking effect!!!

Seriously though, that is one fine looking piece of furniture Brian!! You may have just created your Signature piece. I'm looking forward to being a fly on the wall at your next show just so I can see, first hand, people's reaction to it.

With that knothole...maybe you should call it an antique walking porta potty:p

I think you just found your new avitar. Brian, really, use it for your avitar. It will bring not only a smile to all of our faces each time you post, it also reminds me of just who it is that is posting. I have the memory of a gold fish, and many times forget names and who said what when. But it is certain avitars, favorite sayings at the bottom of each post, or a banner that reminds me of who that person is.

I agree that this is your signiture piece. It has style. Be proud of it. It came out great. KEEP IT!!!!!!!

Brian:

I really like your stool, it has a lot of character. However if you want to keep it, you might not want to put it up for sale. I read once in Fine Woodworking about someone who made a small production run of wood items. At some point he cut his finger and a couple of drops of blood landed on one of them. Instead of trying to clean it or throw it away, he wrote next to it "This is my damn blood". The item with the blood spots sold first.

Beautiful!

The “walking” aspect was a stroke of genius!

That is a total success.

My guess is that it will be so successful that you will make more, but you will keep making mistakes on them and they will have the legs all going the same way.

I'm really loving that piece Brian. Strange how much more action and emotion it has than I suspect the same piece with four symmetrical legs would. A stroke of genius I'd say.
