For those that turn birdhouse ornaments do you have any photos you can share??? Also if you are using mini birds, what size are they and where did you get them??? Thanks in advance. Any photos would greatly be appreciated.

This would be the perfect place to have an index of past posts with photos so people could check a certain topic and find what they are looking for. Anyway here are some of mine and I get the birds at Michaels also.

I use the mini birds form craft supply they have been out of stock on them for some time I have a back order with them for about a month now.I like to make them with a base .I think they sell better because they dont have the hang it on something .I make mine about 1 1/2" x6" I use wood that I find in the woods where I hunt ,some of these tree have been dead of fallen down for 4 or 5 years, most do not have any bark left on them . I just start cutting them up into blocks , the standing houses are all from the same tree . Have fun turning them .

I get my birds from Michaels because of the selection. Here are some. I have made 25 the last 2 weekends. Here are 9 that I just got the birds on and 5 I turned yesterday afternoon.

John - I turned about 100 of these little guys a couple of years ago and can not find a single photo! They looked a lot like Bernie's ornaments because his work was the inspiration! I got my little birds from Michaels at the time - came 2 to a pack but later that year I found Hobby Lobby sold them 10 to a pack and for about half the price! So, shop around a little!

This is a little more than pictures since it's a tutorial. But there is an acorn birdhouse in here...

Oh yes this is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for the photos. I am getting some great ideas and I will have to check out Michaels for these birds.

Chris, how are you texturing the roof on your acorn houses???? Curious minds would like to know.

Please keep them coming. A picture is worth 10000 words. Thanks again. I hope in the near future I will be able to post some of my results.

...and here I was thinking that birdhouses were actually houses for [real] birds.

The operative word is "ornaments" Norm. ;)

Hey John, I texture the roof with a tool called the Wagner Texturing tool. I got it from Craft Supplies USA.
