I've just finished a M&T jig and have some issues (I would post pics, but I am without my camera).

1) Already posted this in another thread, but I'll post it again since I'm already blabbering: I made it out of oak. What finish should I use to prevent warping an wear?

2) It has two arms which rotate on aluminum extrusions, that are bolted together through the face of the jig. Currently I have nylon washers and regular nuts holding them down (which must remain tight enough that there is no vertical play, but still be able to swing). However, when I swing that arms in the same direction as the bolt's threads, then nuts loosens. Any solutions?

Hi, I always just wax my jigs.

For the hardware, use a nylock nut........Regards, Rod.

I would spray on a coat of polyurethane, sand everything smooth.

For the fasteners loosening, you can't beat locktite. Use a Blue, green or red colored loctite. The red is pretty permanent unless you heat it.

Double nuts.
