I need to engrave a photo on 1/2" plate glass. I can dither it with Photograv or some of the other methods.

I was wondering if the image needs to be inverted or not.

And if anyone had a suggestion as to the best Photgrav parameter to use.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Clyde...
When I've done glass I don't use Photograv...never seemed to work that well for me.

What you burn will show us as white, so yes to inversion, usually.

I would stick to 150DPI with glass, as the laser blips out conical chips; thus making the dot size bigger. Above that, and the holes merge together and stuff your image.

I always use the 'cherry' setting for everything in Photograv. Seems to work.

I just read a post about using wet newspaper. What do you think?

Worth doing for the results. I don't normally bother as my laser is only 10W; and also you have to adjust the settings to cope with the paper.

I skip the wet paper method but I do smear the glass with dish soap it seems to work for me.

It may help if you folks could edit your signatures with your laser brand and wattage.

Better, but I don't believe direct links to websites are allowed in your sig... add it to your username in the "User CP" link up top.
