Looking for suggestions for a ROS. I presently have a PC 333 and it has been pretty good. I need to have a back-up sander on hand because the PC has a lot of miles on it.
What do you guys have and recommend. Please don’t suggest Festool. I’m retired on disability and cannot afford or justify a Festool purchase.

Thanks....... :)

A lot of folks seem to like their Bosch 1295 DVS, which you can get for $50 shipped free now off the CPO Bosch site.

I got mine this way. Really happy with it. Quiet and light. DC is exceptional. Unlike previous iterations of this sander, this one comes with an adapter that'll allow direct connection to your shopvac.

I like my cheapo Bosch too. I got mine free. With 500 buck purchase from the local candy store. Haven't had any problems with it.

Fine Woodworking Magazine did a comparison on these a few issues ago. The Porter Cable 394 was best rated and the Milwaukee was close second. The 394 sells for around $120 and the Milwaukee for around $70. I bought the PC and it is much better than my old PC333. It collects dust better and stops quicker. It is a little heavier and more awkward to handle though.

+1 on the 1295VS. Been using it for years. I was going to grab a second one but I received some Lowe's gift certificates and so bought a Bosch ROS20VSK. The ROS20VS has a little more aggressive offset, a wider speed range on the low end and I wanted to try the differences. The 1295VS is still my go to ROS. I hook it to the ShopVac and it sucks up more dust than it makes.

Check out the Rigid 5" at HD. Mine has served me well.

I've been pretty happy with my PC 343k...big improvement from my Ryobi. The Bosch gets high marks from the mag reviews.

I bought this same one reconditioned for like 25 bucks and love it. Does a great job and collects most of the dust. Otherwise I think that I would go for a Milwaukee, rated excellent by WOOD Mag.
