I had a piece of ash wood left over from a coring and decided to experiment.
I'm not sure I like the result. I think it might have been better to have used just one color, or maybe just black.
I will put this in the local Artist Gallery and see if it sells. I guess that will be the final answer as to if the multi colored rim was a good idea or not.
What do you think?

Tom great looking platter. I am not sure about the color selection but that is just me.

Well I took a deep breath when I saw the word painted. But I think I actually like it. :)

I have to think about the coloring but the platter looks great!

Tom - I like the platter - with or without the painted rim. Have to think that someone will love the added color and buy it! Nice work! Good luck on your sales!

I like the shape of the platter but the painted rim doesnt really work for me, I've never done any painting on my pieces so I'm not really sure what to suggest.

I'd have to agree with the consensus here - nice platter but the colors/painting doesn't work for me. I think some sort of texturing/burning on the rim would have look more natural.

Tom,

The platter looks great! I know lots of people who would have bought it!

It'll definitely sell.

Thanks for the comments. I think I agree with most of you that the color scheme is not too great. I'll try something else next time.
