I am wondering what and how folks are holding their bits for sharpening? I've gotten some different sizes and realize that a "universal" holder isn't going to cut it. I've seen the JJordan holder and am thinking of making something similar.

Any thoughts, pics, or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Glenn

I use square bits in mine so the grinder platform works just fine. I sharpen them at the same angle I use for my scrapers so no adjustment required...Bill...

I leave mine in the tool and use the corner of the wheel to sharpen it like David Ellsworth shows in his book.

I use the same method as Bill. Real simple and gets you back to turning quickly!

Like Chris, I leave my tips in the tools. I just mount them in my vari-grind jig and use a similar sharpening technique to the bowl gouges.

That's what fingers are for. I just put them on the tool rest and sharpen. No problem. Just be careful with the small ones.

For the 3/16" round bits, I hold them in the end of a quarter inch square bar with a set screw which then gets used as above on the tool rest.
