This fell down on our property about 2 months ago, I finally had the time to go make some slices. Its some kind of Oak and thats all I know... I was thinking about hauling it off to have it milled up if it was any good. Its a pretty big tree, about 50'+ to the first V and about 20' after that. Anyone know if it would mill up alright, and someone told me Oak can get a fungus in it that ruins it for doing woodwork. As always, everyones help is appreciated.

If the diameter is big enough for quarter-sawing it might be worthwhile. Flat-sawn Oak is inexpensive enough that it really isn't cost-effective unless the tree holds special significance.

I took it to a local sawmill, they said it was no good for woodworking, "water oak"... damn

Yea. Water oak is for firewood.
I milled one up some years back, and the grain in each board separated within days

Just get you some Briskets, some Pork Shoulders and some Baby Back Ribs and use that Oak in the smoker so it don't go to waste.
