I purchased a set like this from Rockler but could use more of the spring clamps. Anyone know a source?

Ok, Answered my own question. Amazon has them. But thought they would be like a buck or two each. Wonder if one could bend his own?????
Would a certain type of steel be better than another?

I am building a cabinet that has some hard to clamp angles. Had this clap for years in my tool box but never used till tonight. This was just the ticket.

I've seen suggestions for making these clamps from the springs in box springs (as in beds). I don't know whether the diameter of a box spring coil would fit your spready pliers, but if you can find a junk box spring, it'd be worth trying.

Last box spring I dumped, I cut a bunch of partial coils for making this kind of clamp (now on the round tuit list, about item #457); you need BIG cutters.

Dave,

I made some from car seat upholstery springs, leaving them in their original curves and sharpening the ends on my grinder. I spread and put them on by hand, and they worked reasonably well.

Lee Valley sells them as well. May (or may not be) cheaper than amazon. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=54189&cat=1,43456,43400

I have used unwrapped piano wire in the past (before the factory deallybobs were introduced). It was for somewhat light duty, but they worked well. Got the stuff from a piano repair shop after an old piano was re-strung. Free!!!! ;)

Did you call Rocker? When I was trying to find some source for a large threaded wooden screw, I noticed that Rocker sold a stool that used one to raise and lower the seat. I called and they said I could order the screw as a part. Maybe they can do the same for the clips...
