THey look awesome to me. Did you use stablized amboyna for the real seat Ron, and what kind of finish did you use

Thanks for the kind words.

No ... not stabilized. Just wood I get from Wolfdancer. He doesn't list all his wood so ask if you're looking for something and he has great prices. http://pnpta.org/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=95&func=view&catid=31&id=11473

This was a major headache of my making as my over aggressiveness in drilling on the lathe with a 3/8" parabolic drill I snapped the blank into two pieces.

Glued it back together and turned down and made a slurry paste of CA and sanding dust to fill with.

If you look closely at the left of the blank you can see a faint light line that starts just below center and runs parallel to the right and ends up just above center on the other end.

and what kind of finish did you useFor the reel seat I used 2 coats of MED CA as it needs to be waterproof.

For the pen I dipped in lacquer.

Thanks Steve ... I like using bark ... gives off a different marbled look.

Bob, had a friend I haven't seen in 10 years from college show up and we went to Montana for 4 days of fly fishing ... it was great!

I saw that pen at our last club meeting, and it looks even better in person, quite unique. Love the reel seat to.
