Guys,I have purchase an older bench belt sander that is called "Mark II Sharpening System".Woodcraft sold it maybe in the 70's,it was for putting an edge on turning tools. My problem is I can't find a ceramic belt that is 2.5X60".I went to Kingspor website and look around, found nothing in that size.Any ideals where I can locate this size belts?Woodcraft does not carry them. Thanks for the help---Carroll

Klingspor will make belts of any length on order. Not sure of the minimum purchase though.

Do get the blue cubic zirconia belts. They cut a lot faster, and heat the metal less.

I have taken a single point diamond grinding wheel dresser, and pulled it across running coarse belts,to do a bit of resharpening on them. I think only the coarse belts are coated thick enough to attempt this, though. It's like dressing a wheel to resharpen it.

By the way, this is why I stay away from sharpening machines that depend upon abrasives to work. Especially complex ones that have slots in them. When they quit making them, you are out of luck. You can always get special belts made,at least.

I have that machine. It's for sharpening chisels, plane irons, etc, not just turning tools! You don't need ceramic belts. Aluminum Oxide will work fine. www.mcmaster.com sells a stock size belt for it. Best place for custom belts is www.industrialabrasives.com Much better than klingspor or any other source. Lowest minimum for custom belts.

It's a nice simple system and works well and fast with less chance of blue the edges of the steel.

I have used both types of belts for many years, and ceramic cuts better, lasts longer, and grinds with less heat because it stays sharper longer. ALO belts can be used, but ceramic is better.

Some of us might have more imagination than you think.
