What is a decent and inexpensive lathe chuck that can be used on a General 160-1 lathe.

Robert,
I just added a post for the Nova midi chuck in the "deals" area. Woodcraft has them on sale for $100 and are including pin jaws as well as the normal woodworm screw and bowl jaws. This might be a good chuck to get you started.

+1 on the WC deal. A good little chuck! also the $99 Grizzly 3 3/4" chuck is a fine piece of equipment. A VicMarc clone who's jaws are interchangable with the Vic's. They have a decent selection of spindle sizes also..Bill...

Bill beat me to it but I do have 3 of the $99 grizzly chucks with Vicmarc jaws on them. Great chucks for the money.

Check the W/C Nova sale. In the future, if you upgrade, all Nova jaws interchange, a nice plus.
