Just finished this up on Friday. Used Norm's drawing. Learned a lot and have a lot more to learn. All Cherry wood. Door pannel is a peice of crotch grain that was just right for the door. The Shakers wouldn't have allowed that but what the heck, it looks good.

Finish is one coat of BLO/Naptha/Poly Varnish to pop the grain and then three coats of Seedlac Shellac and followed by some Black Bison Wax.

Stands 34 1/4" high to top of hanger projection and 11 1/8" wide across the two trim pieces at the top and bottom.

Looks great Mac. What's behind door #2? (The clock face is behind door #1!)

Outstanding, Mac! I don't think that anyone, including the Shakers, would object to the use of beautiful wood in the door panel. They were not prone to wasting wood so a figured piece would be used somewhere.

I really like this design and it's the one I used for the walnut clock I have in our kitchen. (Posted in a previous thread) There is another interesting version in a recent issue of Popular Woodworking that I may try as a follow-on...a bit slimmer and taller appearing. So many choices!

Mac,

Excellent work, and an excellent choice for the front panel. I think the Shakers would have approved!

Simply outstanding!

VERY nice Mac. I was thinking the exact thing as Bruce. The crotch grain door panel really makes the clock. Wonderful work, thanks for sharing it with us. :)

I appreciate the comments. Todd asked what was behind Door #2. We have keys everywhere. Never can find the one I want when I want it. So, Behind Door #2 is some Shaker pegs to hang keys on.

I actually made this for my son Rob. I made his brother a clock several years ago. He is only 18 and it will hang here in the house until, one day, he has a place for it.
