on my computer, both google and dogpile search engines start showing auto complete words as soon as I type a letter in the box. it never use to do this, and I don't like it. the address bar doesn't do it, just the search boxes. I am using firefox, but it will do it in IE explorer also. any ideas on how to change it ?
thanks,brent

Open Internet Explorer.
Choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
Click the Content tab.
Click the AutoComplete button.
Click to remove checkmarks from these items:

Web addresses
Forms
User names and passwords on forms
Prompt me to save passwords

Click the Clear Forms button.
Click the Clear Passwords button.
Click OK.

I had already done that in both IE and firefox. yahoo and ask.com both have an option to turn off the suggestions, but google and dogpile don't, but they seemed to have just started this" suggesting"

At google, there is a preferences tab next to the text window, the suggestion setting is down at the bottom.

Ed<----hates the suggestion bs. too

If you turned the auto complete off in your browsers then you may be getting the functionality from the individual websites (using things such as ajax technology). Usually there is not way to turn it off without loosing other capabilities on many websites.
