I have been using my Kreg jig for joinery for several years now and have only used the "washer-head" type screws. I see there are also "pan-head" type screw heads on some smaller length screws. My original kit only had washer-head.

Are there different purposes for the 2 screw head types? What would the "pan-head" type be used for? Thx.

I use pan heads in 1/2" material such as drawer sides as the washer heads sit proud of the surface. I pretty much prefer the pan heads for any hardwood project or thinner material and save the washer heads for softer and thicker stuff.

Kreg is also coming out with a new smaller drill bit and jig head and smaller screws for 1/2 inch material. The jig head will fit the K3 jig body.

I found a great deal on a couple of #20 boxes of kreg panhead screws, so I've been using them for almost everything lately. The only time I use the washer type now is in very soft woods.
