Speed for mortising?

I just installed the Delta mortising adapter kit on my craftsman 12" DP. I bought the set on clearance and there were no instructions included. I got it installed, but was wondering at what speed I should run it at?

I can't give you the scientific anawer Jay.. but I can tell you most benchtopss run at 1750 rpm average. For that matter I have an Industrial Floor model that runs at 1750. So.. my best guess would be well... around 1750 rpm. ;)

1750 and 3450 are standards, because these things are all direct drive and that's what's available in AC motors ;-)

I'd try slower and see how it goes. Keep the heat down and the drill should stay sharp longer.
