someone on another historic preservation related forum that i read posted this, it's a complete set of textbooks/treatises on wood construction techniques, trim, finishing, etc. from 1865.
looks to be written by a trade school teacher from that time.

the finishing techniques are especially helpful for those of us with older things, think i may have identified the black layer of finish i have on interior doors and trim by a technique mentioned in the "inside trim and finishing" book.
