Need a little help from the experts identifying this wood. I've attached 2 pictures (first time doing attachments) that hopefully will show up. Not sure what kind of wood this desk is made of. I've been asked to make a matching side table.

While my eyes are not as good as they used to be (and those photos are not the best for this), I am guessing curly maple with a dye or possibly a stain.

I'm with Chris on this one: curly/quilted maple stained or dyed or pigmented...to look kinda Bubinga-ish or mahogony-ish...for the first pic.

The second pic doesn't look like maple to me but the ruler blocking some of it so it could well be.

I'll go with the dyed maple. Not sure but bet on aniline dye on curly maple.

Not being a big fan of stain or dyes that option had escaped me. But now that you mention it that seems kind of obvious. Thanks fellas. Any other guesses?

Stewart. The first photo is bookmatched curly maple( If it isn't , it's a dead ringer for it) The second phot is obscured by the ruler and the glare too much for me
