Well.... I survived the trip to Minnesota and have to say that it was quite relaxing.... although there was a lot of driving involved....

One of the most interesting "highlights" for me was visiting a private park in Southern Minnesota that a friend of mine owns.... He also owns the local tree service and a bunch of milling equipment. The park is an interesting place.... he rents it out for various gatherings and has had some festivals there with some well known musicians. I had forgotten all about him having the tree service and the milling equipment....

Here's a few pictures of some of the wood he had laying around.....

A little bit of red oak & ash.... he's using this wood to build a shower facility.... he thinks he'll be able to get $5 a shower.... but, red oak & ash?

A nice pile of Ash sitting up on the stage at the music park..... I wish I had brought my truck!

I suppose when you have wood coming out of your ears.... you might as well build a fence with it..... there's Oak, Maple, Ash, Walnut, Locust.... you name it.... this fence must be about 100 yards long.... fronts the entrance to the music park.

Here's one for the turners..... I went back the following morning to try to get this piece and they had already split it up for firewood.... what a shame!

My buddy said he makes about 5 grand selling firewood when he has festivals out there.... I guess you can call that woodworking....

Did I mention that he has a ton of ash?

Ed, you were right!! Those are some serious wood piles, and that one wide ash board is clear as a bell. You should have had a truck!
