i thought you guys might like this. at scout camp 2 weeks ago we had a competition where you make a canoe out of duct tape and cardboard only. it can be made before camp or at camp. we race them in the lake.
we took first place. we called our canoe, Yellow Fever. im am in the back for most of the pictures. i think i am infront for one of them.

Clever idea. We made bridges to span 8 feet then loaded them with weight to failure. No pre-made cardboard tubes or parts allowed. Just flat cardboard. Each team got a set number of new cardboard panels and rolls of tape. IIRC, the winner held over 200 pounds.

I wish the camp our scouts go to did something like that. The only camp wide activity other than camp fires is an "Ironman" activity at the beach one afternoon.

I was just up at summer camp with our scouts last week. It is remarkable how the beaches at any scout camp look pretty much the same no matter which camp you attend.

The next thing you ought to try is a train:

fantastic!!!!

My previous career schooled me on the value of tape and now I really don't think I could live without it... my wife is amazed at my tape talent and it is even sort of a running joke around our house.... but I've gotten her on board.

what a great project/competition, looks like a lot of fun.
