Inkscape Question

Hi all,

I just started using Inkscape and everything seems pretty straightforward. But, I can't seem to ungroup a traced image so I can play with it. Does anyone with experience have a procedure they can share? I'll bet it's something very simple, but I just have not been able to do it.
