Hello all First time with a real post on this site, I really enjoy reading all the info you pass on here.
I am in the military and will be transfering from the seattle area to Memphis TN area. I will have to store my machines for awhile till I can get set up again and was wondering what everyone else did to preserve the tops of thier machines? I was thinking of just appling a thick coat of paste wax or grease but the grease would be quite messy.
Thanks for your assistance in advance
Larry:rolleyes:

I may soon be facing the same problem of having to store my equipment. My plan is to put a think layer of grease over the unpainted cast iron surfaces.. Then cover that w/ wax or butcher paper.

That's pretty much w/ the mfgr's do except they have access to cosmoline, which I don't....

Larry and Joe: if you put grease on your tools you won't have to worry about rust. We used to put grease on the moboards of our plows then they sat out side all winter. We didn't have any trouble with them rusting.
