A few months ago, I completed this headboard as the first part of our bedroom suite.

I have now finished the first dresser. There will be one more dresser and 2 night tables with drawers before the whole bedroom suite is done. Been a bit slow going as other projects seem to keep getting in the way.

Anyway, walnut with a stripe of zebrawood inlayed into the top drawer faces.
The drawer faces have a bevel cut on the top as a finger grip to open. The drawer boxes are yellow birch, rabbeted together and pinned with walnut dowels. The top is 1 1/8" thick but I cut a bevel on the underside so that it doesn't look too heavy. Glued pocket hole joinery for most of the carcass. The toe kick is back about 1 1/4" so it doesn't seem to sit to heavy. Blum drawer slides are what the wife wanted. I was prefering wooden slides, but what wifey wants, she gets!

Hope you like it. The flash on the camera make the grain really apparent but you'll have to take my word that in person it is more subtle than the pics make it look. The wood sure has nice grain IMO though.

Really nice work; really like the clean unobstructed look of the drawers without pulls. And the bear in the corner seems to approve as well.

Some very nice, clean work. You just gotta love walnut!! Neat job on the drawers, too. Makes for a very nice contrast, and in keeping with the contemporary design of the pieces. Excellent!

I really like the way you approached drawer pulls on that contemporary piece. Some nice figure on the grain and I won't hesitate to let grain run wild which matches my personally to a certain degree. :)

Nicely done...

Well... I certainly believe you have done just that, Mr. Keeton. I always say, you can run but you cant hide from a fellow southern boy as they know all the tricks. :D

And BTW... because my neighbor in Kentucky had to go and post his fancy plane till... I was forced by my neighbors to upgrade the two trays I use to hold my planes. Now.. I can assure you the upgrade was done with scrap and the amount of time was around 45 minutes after slapping on a coat of stain but... regardless they were upgraded to get them to easy access. Withing two days I had grown tired of bending over low under the bench and the upgrade was a feeble (ill advised lesson in fine joinery) attempt to keep up with the Keeton's even though it comes up a thousand miles short of the mark.

So.. the plane rack is done and as soon as I build two chisel trays which are also very impromtu and done with haste... I will post a picture in your thread about your plane till as mine does not warrant a stand alone perfomance on center stage. It's a shame what someone has to do to keep the neighbor-hood tidy to avoid end-less complaints from the neighbors but.. that's life in the south I suppose. heeee.......

Sarge, notwithstanding your feisty attitude, and the probable problems you cause for your Georia neighbors, I do want you to know that should they evict you from the state you are more than welcome to move to KY. Of course, I will need to get prior approval from the distant neighbors. They have livestock and such, and disturbances in the neighborhood might be an issue.:p
