Both are very nice. I really like what you did with the lip or lack of lip, or disapearing lip on the walnut piece!

Great job on both of them but I too love the last walnut, cool shape.

I'm not sure what it is but I don't really like the shape on the first one. I'm not sure how to put it into words, something about the shape just doesnt feel right. The top view and lip looks great but the last picture where you see the real shape just doesnt seem right.

Anyone feel that same way that can articulate this better or am I just being particularly stolid?

I really like the walnut bowl.

The first one does remind me a bit of a flying saucer. Nice crisp lines on it though.

Nice bowls Gary. I do have a question (from the newer turner) is that botttom the remains of a reverse dovetail or just a decorative foot? Just curious.

Scott, are you referring to the Walnut piece? If so that is actually the rim of the bowl. The maple just has a small foot.

All, thank you for the comments. The Maple piece does have a slight saucer shape to it when looking at it from below, but the pics are a little decptive as there is a foot and the curve is more pronounced than is apparent with the backdrop(ok towel.):o
