Recently Derek posted his project assembling the Brese 650 small smoothing plane. In fairness, he actually did it twice, the second time with the Ebony infill he ended with.
Late last year I met Ron Brese at the WIA show in Berea. I was so taken by his planes that shortly after returning I placed my order for his 875 and 650-J planes. The 650-J is the variation on Ron's small smoother that is over-stuffed and has side wall cut-outs based on a design from Jameel Abraham. The challenge was that I had to put the 650-J together.
To keep this short, Ron sends you everything you need, including great instructions and all the parts required, including the screws and Super Glue to mount the infill.

You basically have to find an appropriate infill material. Like Derek, I chose Ebony and got very lucky on an Ebony log on E-B.

From there it is all up to you. Lots of patience and careful fitting you can end up with a great little infill.

If you haven't had a chance to try one of Ron's planes I highly recommend it. I really enjoyed making the kit and will likely make the original version that Derek showed.
Like Sandy, I am proud of my familyy of Brese planes.

Hope you all enjoy the eye candy.
