Is the metal track that is used for the miter slot on a router table specifically made for this application and must be bought from a router supply supplier or can it be purchased at a HD, Lowes, metal shop?

Most of the usual woodworking supply sources have it; I've never seen it anywhere else.

I bought a piece of that at either HD or Lowe's. My guess is Lowe's. It is in the hardware section with the rest of the angle iron and such. They say it is used for holding plywood or something weird. I think it come in 1/2, 5/8 3/4 and maybe 1/4 and 3/8. I have a piece in my router table. I bought it like 5 years ago so I don't know if they still carry it.

There are a lot of places that sell it.
Preachtree has a good selection.
