I have not turned anything for 6 weeks or so and finally got back in the shop this weekend, A good friend of mine made a trip to Texas a couple of months ago and brought me back a bunch of mesquite. This is the first piece from it. Measure 5" dia x 8-1/2" tall. Finished with antique oil and buffed. The two photos are of the same turning. Your comments/critiques are welcome.

Absolutely beautiful work Keith! Love the form - especially the small foot! Great looking wood, grain patterns and color! The second photo was a little surprising - having that many openings must have sprayed shavings all over your shop!

Quality work Keith! Also like the soft finish! Thanks for sharing!

Good job making a very unique piece out of that chunk of wood. This taller "vase" form of your's is nice.

Kieth, That is very nice piece. IMHO the form is spot on. Being from mesquite country myself I can tell you that there is no other wood I would rather turn. It almost always holds some surprises, as demonstrated with your vessel.

Keith, I like everything about this piece. I'd have to say that of all my favorite Keith Burns turnings this is one of my most favorite. Can't wait to see what else comes from the mesquite logs.

Aweswome. You it this one over the wall in deep left.

Let me know the next time you take a plane trip so I can book the seat next to you. You can then give this piece to me.:p;)
