I'm building some crappy laundry hamper that my wife thinks is a waste of time. Heck yeah.

Anyway, so I cut / roundedover about 50 of these cedar "slats" which make up the frame of the laundry hamper dealie. But I can't figure out what to do for the frame components (top and bottom solid components...) I was thinking some sort of blackish / dark wood but I don't know what wouldn't break the bank. I would love to use wenge but I think it might be too expensive.

Any thoughts?

Soft Maple and Aromatic Cedar complement each other well. If you want a cheap, dark wood you could always stain it. ;)
