well, last week i was at scout camp in dillsburg PA. i found a large number of rather large mountain laurel burls. they are all root burls that were dead. the plant either got cut or trampled to make a path. i simply dug up some stumps. i am going to try to turn a few of them. when i ever get a carving set i will try my hand at carving some of them, a couple of the peices look like they would be good for smoking pipes. or if i never get a carving set i might sell some to some of the carvers of miniature turning people.
