Hello,

Does anyone know who sells a set of brass setup blocks (or bars) for use with a router? I checked with Lee Valley, but they only have an aluminum set, and I want brass.

Thanks,
Louis

Woodcraft and Peachtree both offer them. I have the LV set and a 2-1/2" set and a 4" set in brass. If I could only have one, I would keep the 4". I also found unexpected value in the 1-2-3 block that came with the LV's I got as a gift. I picked up two more from Grizzly. Great at the DP and the RT. Oh yeah, Rockler has the 2-1/2" as well.

should be pretty easy to find... here's a few options...

Woodcraft has them http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=4854

as does Rockler http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=16399&filter=brass%20setup

or Peachtree http://www.ptreeusa.com/routerAcc.htm#1041

Just curious, what do you see as the advantage of brass over aluminum? I've had, and frequently use, a set of anodized aluminum setup bars long enough that I've forgotten where I got them. I haven't noticed anything about them that is disappointing.

If you have a bearing or machine shop nearby, give tehm a call and get brass keys. The kind for pulleys. They're not that common, but some of the "better" shops carry them. They come in the sizes offered on kits. Trouble is that you usually have to buy a foot. It's not cheap, but you can get 10 or 12 sets

I personally don't know that brass is better than aluminum. It's just that I've never seen anyone use bars other than brass, and that's why I wanted brass. Anyway, I found a nice brass set on sale and ordered it.
