well, i got my homemade turing tool with diamond insert to work well. it creates long ribbons and cuts as fast as my lathe can handle till it stops spinning. it is very good for roughing as it doesnt leave smooth finishing cuts, only smooth roughing cuts, its very weird. but that was all it was made for was roughing out any ways.

i used an old tire iron for the handle/tool. and drilled a hole in the end, then epoxied the diamond bit in. it is a Kennametal diamond insert. it has a 1/8 wide cutting edge and it works very well. i got a set of 5 for 25$ off of the Bay.
the wood chip in the picture is just one that got stuck in the epoxy, i tried to use it before it was set.
