Is this the right forum? Well, it is a power tool.... Meet the iSaw, the world's first USB powered chainsaw.

Unfortunately, the article does not answer "Why?"

I was very surprised when I searched out the date of that article and found it not to be 1 April. LOL :D

Because sometimes the computer is really getting the better of you, and you need to show it who is the boss. :D

There is a link in the article that explains everything

This could be huge! Perhaps they can arrange to mount it to some CNC robotic arm to use for making that rustic carved furniture, you know, like bear chairs and eagle heads and such? Or mount it to a RAS yoke for precise chain mortising applications. They may be on to something over there. Or perhaps they may have depleted the oxygen supply in their office?

OK...I'll bite....WHY? I know computers can be tough to hang with sometimes, but a chainsaw? First thing I thought of was the April First Hot Rod about the AMC cars' return last year. I still don't believe this one.

Hello,
I don't care about the "why"...

I want one!!!! :D

Actually - thanks a ton for this.
Every Monday morning we have our weekly system engineer's meeting.
"Drier than a popcorn _ _ _ t", pretty much sums up the agenda.

Usually, I amuse myself by making little "log cabins" out of the ballpoint pens in the little containers on the conference table.
Then I stage mock settlers vs Indians attacks on the log cabins..

The "settlers" always win since they have this cannon that "shoots" candy mints ;).

Anyhow, in an effort to quell this, the mgt. came up with an idea of a weekly "show and tell", where we rotate technical topics. Each week, one of has has to give a short presentation on some current computer related topic.

LOL!
Three guess what mine's going to be on!

OK...I bit...I had to. I had to find out the WHY?

I clicked on the above link to the article and found the site for the saw:http://www.usbchainsaw.com/

There I watched a video of a woman in a skirt using the I-Saw to cut a small table and an office plant/tree. Thought it was suspicious as there is no cord visible as she's moving in and then the shot gets real tight so all you can see is the bar/chain while cutting.

Finished that then read the rest...all the way to the bottom where it says you can't preorder any more. Click on it to find out why. Here's what you get:

122742

So it does appear to be some sort of gag/hoax...but all that and I still and left wondering...WHY? The link in the pop-up goes to a site where you can download an app that will play the sound of a chainsaw while you are printing. Some sort of "save the trees" campaign?

Be well,

Doc

Bad news folks.

It is a hoax. Go to the website http://usbchainsaw.com/ and click on the pre-order button at the bottom.

Too good to be true.

Edit: Looks like Don beat me to the hoax.
