I once had some drill bits that I would ilke to replace and cannot find a source. It is a one piece counterbore drill bit. The pilot part is like a spade bit. Makes a counterbore that is a perfect fit for a standard plug that you make with a plug cutter. NOT a countersunk bit. Counterbore, meaning it makes a flat bottomed counterbore not a tapered countersink. Anyone know where these can be purchased?

DeWalt was the mfg/supplier concurrent with Stanley.
Doubt they're still a product.

Won't one of these work, I think I know what you are talking about, I had some at one time.

These should do it, I have some like it and have used them for plugs.

I have seen those and I am not sure they will work. I am not sure of the Plug size required.

I guess the question is what do you need to do, if its just a flat bottom you need then a brad point would work but I am sure you are wanting to do it all in one operation, drill and counterbore.

You can get great brad points with center drill from Morris wood tool. They aren't cheap. but they drill a flat bottom hole with a center pilot. I think you can use different pilot diameters with a given counter bore bit over a certain range.

I never knew they made so many different ones.

I would sure thing that would do it.

Jim,
Try General Tools. Years ago I had that exact set you describe. I believe they have updated them a bit and now make the bit dimensional but it still has the pilot, and the shank pilot plus the countersink. Look up generaltools.com and search under drill bits and accessories.

Fuller has plug cutters to match their countersink bits. And counterbores for them as well. Might be worth looking over what they have.

Manhattan Supply Co. sells any counterbore you might want. you can also get them with removable pilots,so you can turn new ones of different diameters to fit it.

Hello Jim. I think you are describing a Fuller counterbore. Is this it?
