Greetings,

I friend of mine brought by a sewing basket that his dad made for his mother back in 1935. Since that time, it has been "redone" and the top veneer is slight bubbled up in a few places. I have no clue what glue was used to put this veneer down, but how can I flatten the veneer once again? Any ideas?
I'm pretty sure that this was redone about 10 years ago and I'm almost certain that it was redone with yellow WW Glue....I could be wrong about the ww glue, but I'm guessing since it's rework has been so recent (comparitively speaking ya know.)

You can take a sharp knife and make a cut along the grain through the veneer. Then work some glue under the veneer. Put some waxed paper on the veneer and then press it with some MDF and clamps. It generally makes an invisible repair.

Otherwise, if the top isn't too large, sand the old veneer off and apply new veneer.
