I have a General 650.. I also have the Freud Dial-A-Width dado blade set. When I put the stack on set up to 3/4", when I put the arbor nut on I don't get thread protrusion. It is just inside the end of the nut. I tightens up very tight and the blade is secure, but is it still OK to use this way? Is it possible to get a thinner nut that way I do get protrusion? Or would you just use it this way as long as it gets tight? Thanks.

From your description I think you're ok; the thread direction combined with the saw rotation act to keep the nut tight on the arbor.

FWIW, Nuts are designed for Maximum holding power when a Full or Almost Full Thread is in them, Arbor Nuts are usually Thicker, an over spec, called a Safety Factor, You will be OK.
