Nice job Phil!

The first one took me over a year. I made a ton of firewood in that time.

What kind of wood is it? I like the form.

I have been working on roughing out some bowl blanks, you are ahead of me... I can only hope my first completed bowl looks that good...

So far with the cedar shavings that came off the blank yesterday, I would be shocked to not find hampsters in my shop this evening...

Phil - that is a good looking bowl! If possible - could you post a larger photo of it? Hard to see the details.

Phil,

Looks good. Sign it, number it and set it aside so you can look back two years from now and see how much you have progressed.

What is the wood? How big?

Phil that is a good looking bowl. I would sign it, date it and keep it for comparison down the road as was said by Toney. I still have my first bowl and it is amazing the difference a year or two makes.

yeah here's a couple bigger ones. I like the smaller pics better cuz you can't see the crumbs on the chair in them lol

and I think it was Cherry. Pete did about 30% of the cutting and all of the polishing so he get's bunches of credit from me.
And yes it's dated and on the shelf:)

Very nice "first effort" Phil. You will only get better. Wish my first had looked half as nice as this one...Bill..

Phil was a treat to have visit. He is a natural and after he convinces his wife how important turning is, he will be like the rest of us:eek:

It sure does help to have someone handy that knows the ropes! Great job on the bowl and it is only the beginning!
