Go look at it( don't smile to big) run a board though it, then put it in the back of your truck.

Additional questions:
1. Any idea how many hours of use its seen?
2. Has the unit every been serviced or had regular maintenance done?
3. Do you have the original manual (usually no, which sets up question 4)
4. Will you take $875 for it? Haggle, then settle on $925.

Goodluck,
Jeff

Agree with all of the above...I have that model planer now. Mine is about 2 years old. I love it...And if it is indeed in good shape, I think the price is a good one.

$1000 is a dang good price. But honestly I wouldn't buy a planer again that doesn't have the helical insert head, and its usually makes more sense in my opinion to just to buy a new planer with it rather than buying a head for an old machine

Unless you have 3 phase power, make sure it's a single phase motor.

Yea, assuming its single phase or you have three phase capability, and its in decent shape, thats a decent deal. You have to beat one of those pretty hard to hurt it. If it were for sale in my area, the only question you would need to ask is "How long ago did Peter Quinn leave with that planer?":D

Nah.... not nearly as good as the one that went for $400 round these parts about 6 months ago. I was caller #2 unfortunately :(

I have that planer with the shelix head. I bought mine used (I think it was a year old) for $1400. Although the shelix is nice, ok the shelix is great, the planer is OK. I would say the Grizzly 1021 I had before it was better made and more solid.

This one has rollers where mine has solid tables and I definitely prefer solid tables. To me, this is an ok buy, not a great buy. Just my two cents worth.
