Does anyone know the spring angle on Williams and Hussey crown knives. I am not too fond of 45/45. I prefer the 38/52.

Are yoy refering to the back cuts on the crown? I ain't got no hussy  but I do know there are aftermarket companies making knives for you machine if you can't find one from the machine company. Among one of them is Charles G.G. Schmidt. Google it.

You should be able to find knives with either configuration or, as mentioned, have a set custom made. Plenty of companies that will do that for you...

I thought all crown back knives were 38/52 as standard.

Pretty sure you can get either 58/32 or 45/45 as you like. I think 58/32 is the defacto standard.

Guess I've never ran across a 45/45

I have my knives made at Ballews, and let them do whats necessary to accomplish what I want in a knife.

We make them where I work. Used to be more popular a century ago. I see quite a few of them in old millwork catalogue reprints. Actually quite elegant with the right profile, usually a deep cove with some form of scotia below, possibly a multi part treatment. I have a few hundred feet I was given that was run in the wrong species so I'm using it up around the house.
