A fellow creeker gave me some spalted dogwood. This is ~6" diameter, the wood has a lot of character (including one pretty good sized worm hole). This was the first time I have turned dogwood, some areas were punky but the solid sections cut really nice.

Dennis - sure is some pretty wood! The feet really grab the attention but I also like the single detail line just below the rim. Very nice work!

That is a good looking bowl as well as the wood. The feet and rim treatment really make it stand out.

Dennis, I like the feet too! carving this type of things on bowls adds a little more of the creator to the pieces. The time to add the feet shows you really want the piece to look good and function also. The wood has tons of charcter and the bowl shows it off well. The pictures are a little dark, but that is one of the things a lot of us figure out over time!

Thanks for sharing!

Really like this bowl! The way you have carved the feet actually give a sense of impending movement. As in "grab your popcorn before I walk away..."
Nice job.

Who knew dogwood could look so good. Nice touch on the foot-makes it more interesting. Good form and finish.
