I am more than getting fogetful, but I can't remember whether I posted that a lady brought four chairs to cane that have medallions. I am out of the caning business and have tought a lady to take over my work, but of course she is still lacking some skills. These chairs have some rather large, heavy medallions to deal with and because she is pretty backed up time wise and is a little uncomfortable tackling the medallions, I agreed to do them since they couldn't find anyone else who could or would.

For those younger people who haven't seen many cane chairs I am enclosing a picture of one of these carved barley twist chairs with the medallion.

Of course this is stalling my work on changing over my lathe. Drat!!!!

Is this an "after" picture? I guess I need to reset my thoughts. I always thought of chairs with caning as being kinda on the casual side. But these are very formal and look just right, esp. with the medallions!

Just so no one is misled. This is a chair as it came to me, not after I have caned it. It will look much better after I am through with it.
