I plan on upgrading from a table-top model saw and am leaning towards the General International Contractor saw (Model 50-185LM1 price is $689). This is the left tilt model with 52" rip capacity. I have taken a serious look at Grizzley, but I am leary of buying mail order. The General saw can be purchased at a local tool store. Does anyone have any experience with the General saws? All comments are appreciated.

Hey Paul,

General makes some pretty good stuff. I haven't seen any of their tools that I wouldn't put in my shop any ol' day. I believe you would really like the left tilt saw, as I have a right tilt and a left tilt and I use the left tilt about 99.9% of the time. In short, General makes good stuff. ;) :D

Hi Paul:

I have that saw and I like it alot. Good power (2hp motor) accurate fence and a flat table. I made no adjustments after putting it together. It is a dead on accurate saw right out of the box!

If you buy it, you will like it
