Took advantage of father's day weekend to steal some time to process a few maple logs found in the neighborhood:

Never know what you're gonna find inside -- some nice potential in here:

Now I've got my work "cut out" for me:

Got up early and flew through these on Sunday morning while the kids were still asleep. I really enjoy roughing -- easy green wood, smooth sculpting of form, but none of the fussiness of sanding or finishing. I've been working on form with Raffan's new-ish "art of turned bowls" as a companion, and this repetitive roughing is really starting to pay off.

Only a few dozen more to go!

You were busy. By the time your kids woke up, did they have to dig you out of a pile of shavings? Can't wait to see the finished pieces.

Roughing out bowls can be a blast! Looks like you got some great maple - noticed the curl! Looking forward to seeing the finished versions of all these bowls!

You found a great way to celebrate Father's Day!

Josh, Looks like you were a busy little beaver! Very nice bunch of roughed out bowls. That one crotch piece has some great figure in it!
Keep us updated on the progress.

Awesome!! That's an ambitious early morning if you ask me. When I'm feeling ambitious it's a quick 1-2 hr spin on the mountain bike, but this.... whoa. Nice stuff
