I'm looking for some 4' x 4' pieces of 1/4" plywood. I'd like the outer skin to be Maple or a very light color wood. Anybody have any ideas about where I can find such a product??

Hi Dennis,

These guys have 1/4" bendable ply but I did not see Maple.

The bending plywood I've used is poplar or lauan. I've always applied my own show veneer. As to where to get bending plywood, I get it at either of two good hardwood dealers in my area. Dunno where you could get it in your area. If you're stuck, Anderson International in LA carries it (http://www.aitwood.com/StoreFront.Asp?WoodType=LAUAN&CATID=10&Section=BENDLAUAN&wDesc=Bending%20Lauan). They can roll it up for shipment, so the freight charges only big, not outrageous.

Home Depot....only it isn't supposed to do that.

Seriously I think these guys ship. I know they sell wiggleboard.

Ditto what Jamie said. We use an Italian poplar bending plywood at work that will turn a pretty severe radius but it has no show veneer. All the laminations are run in one direction, so you need to alternate each layer in a shop made lamination to create a stiff structure. We also use some 1/4" and 1/8" maple ply that won't bend as severe a radius but is somewhat flexible and has one A face. Both come from a local hardwood plywood distributer in the North East.

I can only get 3/8" luan from my supplier. Only problem is the doggone stuff won't stand up with the other plywood in the scrap corner.

I would call a local cabinet shop and ask if they know of a suppier in the area.

I will call around and see what I can find. I don't have to have a severe radius, I just need to to a slight curve over a 24" length and a 24" height to make a type of ocean wave type deal. This will be for a cup cake / cake stand for a friends wedding in August. This stand will hold 4 shelves that will hold 50 cup cakes and a 5" cake at the top of the "stand".

I'm also trying to find some inexpensive Maple Veneer to cover the outside of the "stand" with.
