Are dewalt DW9096 nicad batteries interchangable...

with DW9096 XRP lithium batteries. I have a dewalt drill with the battery dw9096 which is a nicad but home depot sells the DW9096 that is Li ion. Can this battery be used on my drill? The Li ion appears to fit.

I'm given to understand that all you need is a new battery charger for the LiIon batteries & you're good to go.
That's one reason I went w/DeWalt.

Yes. However, you will need to get the new charger. The old one will not work with the new batteries.
