Newbie here.
Just picked up a bunch of power tools from a guy that wanted to sell the whole lot (Old delta 900 Radial Arm Saw, 6" Delta Jointer, 12" Delta Planer 22-540), and craftsman 10" table). All in decent shape, just needed some TLC and general clean up. But everything works great!

Looking for advice or how to set the planer blade height on the surface planer without the guage? it didn't come with it (after reading the book!).

I tried a newer gauge from a friend (TP305) but that didn't work. The mounting doesn't have the pins or holes in the blade, they are mounted on the springs.

Does anyone have a gage (I can borrow) or a template I can make one or suggestions on how to easily set it up?

Thanks! :)

I don't know about your area, but you can still pick up the gauges for less than $10 around here. You might want to check around.

Unfortuanately, we don't have any woodworking or supply places local.... :(

After researching the Delta Site, I found the part number, Googled it and found one for $6.97 +/sh on a tools site.

Thanks and sorry to bother you guys. :)

but I found them worthwhile.

Let me pass on my experience with my 540...the factory gauges are very hard to get a good setting with, and those Planer Pals solved all my problems, as well as made the job about 45 minutes versus 1/2 day! I let mine go with the planer when I sold it.

I tried the magnetic one from a TP305, but there is no room to put it down into the slot with the tension bar installed.

I didn't want to put a lot of money into it right now, since I don't use it much, but just wanted to get it setup correctly, so when I do need it.

Yes, thanks all! I will keep the Planer Pal in mind for next time :)
The one I found was like $70-100? I didn't see that one.
