Well, the first pic was impressive, but then I saw the penny!! Very impressive! Not sure my fingers are that nimble anymore - or maybe ever!

Awesome box. The first thing that stuck out to me was your grain alignment on the birdseye maple. It gives a great transition from straight to varied grain which does great to give the impression of a land/sky border within the same piece of wood. Very nice use of that.

Rather nice work and a lot of patience. How did you like working with the lignum vitae and holly? I remember my first experience with lignum vitae. I thought they accidentally sold me steel with a light oil coat left on. :)
Very nice indeed...

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
To Sarge--Holly is one of my favorite woods to use for intarsia. I don't mind paying premium price for good clean white and it has to be scrolled using a new blade to keep it from burning. Same goes for the Lignum --has to be cut using a fresh blade and cleaned with mineral spirits before a finish can be applied but the green color is beautiful.

Wow!! Such a wonder combination of wood to get the desired color without staining. The patience involved to create such a piece is impressive.
