This is a Sedona Rollerball pen turned from X-Cut Pauduk. It's finished with 7 coats of 4 hr. dry poly over 2+ days. Then allowed to cure for a day or 2, followed up with a wet mm from 4,000 grade to 12,000. A coat of Ren wax and it's done.

It,s a "keeper"! Very nice finish. Most people looking at a pen don't realize how much time goes into a really nice one, and that is a nice one.

Good job. That is a really difficult wood to turn. I have blown up a few of them myself. However, when you finish a cross-cut pen like this, the way the light hits the grain makes it worth it!

I have also leaned towards the poly finish lately. I used to use CA all of the time, but lately my CA skills (luck?) have been lacking. I think its either cheap CA or moisture issues. Anyway, that was a whole other discussion.... Nice pen.

Mack, really nice looking pen! What grit are you sanding with in between your poly coats?

John Hi John; 4,000 mm grade, as near as I am able to ascertain is somewhat higher than 600 sandpaper.
