Whatever you want they will make for you. It is not really dark slate so I always spray it over with a clear laquer which makes it go darker and really enhances the engraving.

I have also been looking for a slate coaster supplier, I may try the snowdonia slate and also see what Chris has. Thanks guys!
I am also interested in trying some of the green and black slate that comes from the lake district. Anyone have any experiene with this or know of a supplier up there.
Thanks!

Try Morissons of all places.
You can get packs of slate place mats and coasters very cheaply. They are A4 size for the place mats and around 110mm x 110mm for the coasters.
They also have them in Black Granite. Engraves superbly.
They all have the rubber pads on the underside.
Well worth a trip.
Dave.

Totally unrelated, but it looks like we're getting quite a solid UK contingent here! Yeehaw!
Does anybody have pictures of the slate work being done? How thick is this slate you are using?
cheers, dee

Important geography lesson today.
Ireland no longer part of UK:):)
The economic lesson of course is they are delighted to have got rid of us

Dave,
Thanks for the Morrisins tip. I would never have thought of them for the stone coasters. I'll take a look soon.
I may also be off up to the Lakes in a couple of weeks, it's only just over an hour away from us, I'll let you all know if I can find a supplier up there. I do know that they are still quarying the rock.
Thanks all!

Sorry for offending - I paid no attention to geography in school, but I guess I did know Ireland is a separate country.

No offence taken.:)
I will post some pictures early next week.I use a number of different suppliers and thickness for various products:
20mm for House signs, 10 mm that I use for maps, 6mm for personal gifts (weddings, anniversarys) and now sourcing approx 3mm thick slate for coasters.
