Here is the HF I turned from the same oak burl as the two nested sets. This burl has amazing pin burl grain in it. It is just over 8" in dia. by 7" tall. It is the first bark edge HF for me. I still have two large bowls drying that I cored off the bottom of the two nested sets so in all I got 14 bowls and three slabs for game calls out of the one large burl. I use deft for finish on this HF and might still put a few more coats on to fill some of the small voids. I used the #1 and # 2 3/4" John Jordan hollowing tool with his arm brace to hollow all my HF's.

Mike,
Absolutely gorgeous. You can't not like Burl and Oak seems to transform itself when it burls. Very well done, you should be very proud of this Hollow form.

Beautiful hollow form Jack! Amazing wood! I like the way you used the natural bark edge as a lip - very different! How did you finish the bottom? From the photos it looks like it is rounded over and I was just curious if you turned a slight recess for use as a foot?

Really nice work Jack! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Steve, I jam chucked it and turned the foot off and made a concave bottom of around 2" for it to sit on.
Thanks again,
Jack

Jack, That burl you got was true gem! It was tight and had some of the best eye burl I have ever seen in oak! You did a truly great job of using all of it and everything so far is very nice! We all should be so lucky to get a burl like that!

Magnifiscent piece. The natural edge rim really suits it. I have the smaller Jordan tools and really like them -- the bend is just right.
